You know how it is, 2 years ago Colin said he wanted to retire at the end of May 2020 and a plan was put in place for his retirement. First of all finding a replacement (impossible we know) which varied slightly into employing Steve Deverson in the electrical department to maintain the capacity within MJA, and then working out Colin’s smooth exit from the business. This was all going well until the UK went into Lock Down in March and conveying this information to our client base met a bump, along with Colin’s intended leaving do at the end of May!
It has been over 20 years since Colin joined MJA and as many know, before that both Paul and Colin started their engineering careers at the same company. During those years MJA has gone from strength to strength, with clients who Colin worked with when he started at MJA still working with us now. As you will know the ethos at MJA has always been that the engineer who takes the project briefing is the person who will design and monitor the project on site and be present to answer any questions about it. With Colin this has happened over and over with successful projects and client transitions of expectation into designs.
We would like to assure you that Colin has been working with all of us at MJA to ensure that the projects he is working on are smoothly transferred to Dale. Dale has been shadowing Colin to be introduced to his projects, including site visits where possible under the current Lock Down rules, to show him the extent and works involved in these. Colin is not disappearing totally and can be contacted should the need arise and you may even see him still carrying out work for MJA in the future.
We wish Colin a happy retirement and look forward to us all meeting up and celebrating his retirement, and the end of Lock Down, when we can. If you would like to talk to someone about any of the projects that Colin is working on at the moment please call Dale who will be happy to help.
